Weather Underground Forecast for Saturday,March 12,2016
An area of low pressure will generate heavy rain over the Mississippi Valley on Saturday, while a cold front swings across the Northwest.
A slow moving low pressure system will continue to pump moisture across the Deep South. Heavy rain and thunderstorms will bring threats of flash flooding to eastern Louisiana, eastern Arkansas, southeast Missouri, southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western Kentucky, western Tennessee, Mississippi, southwest Alabama and the western tier of the Florida Panhandle. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will also be possible over the southern Plains, the central Plains, the upper Mississippi Valley, the Midwest and the eastern Tennessee Valley. Most of the East Coast will stay clear of precipitation due to high pressure over the northern Mid-Atlantic.
Out west, a weak area of low pressure will transition eastward across the Intermountain West. A light mixture of rain and snow will spread across the Wasatch Mountains and the Rockies.
Meanwhile, a strong Pacific cold front will produce moderate to heavy rain and heavy mountain snow across northern California and the Pacific Northwest. Prolonged heavy rain will bring threats of flash flooding to northern California, especially for valleys adjacent to mountain slopes. By the late afternoon and evening, heavy snow will develop across the Sawtooth Mountain Range and the Salmon River Mountain Range. Southern California and the Desert Southwest will stay mostly clear of wet weather.
