Weather Underground Forecast for Sunday,March 27,2016

A low pressure system will shift across the Midwest on Sunday, while a Pacific system affects the Northwest.

An area of low pressure will move in an eastward trajectory from the upper Mississippi Valley to the eastern Great Lakes. This system will produce a mixture of rain and snow over the upper Midwest. Mixed precipitation will spread across the northern Mid-Atlantic by Sunday evening. A cold frontal boundary associated with this system will stretch southwestward from the upper Mississippi Valley to the southern Plains. As this frontal boundary transitions eastward, it will interact with a warm and moist air mass over the southeastern quadrant of the country. The result will be strong to severe thunderstorms and heavy rain for much of the Midwest, the Deep South and the Southeast. Severe thunderstorms will be possible in northern Mississippi, northwest Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, southern Indiana and southwest Ohio. These thunderstorms will be capable of producing large hail, dangerous straight line winds and isolated tornadoes. In addition, prolonged heavy rain will bring threats of flash flooding to southeast Louisiana, southern Mississippi, southern Alabama, southern Georgia, northern Florida and southeast South Carolina.

Meanwhile, a Pacific low pressure system will push east southeastward from British Columbia to the upper Intermountain West. Light to moderate rain and high elevation snow will develop across the Pacific Northwest, the upper Intermountain West, the northern Great Basin and northern California. Winter storm watches are in place for the Ruby Mountains. High pressure will keep most of the Southwest warm and dry.
