Stormy weather is expected over the southeastern corner of the country on Saturday, while a low pressure system transitions across the Plains.
A wave of low pressure will move east northeastward over the southern Mid-Atlantic. A weak frontal system will extend west southwestward across the Southeast. This frontal system will be the focal point for rain and thunderstorms, which will affect the Gulf Coast and the Southeast. High pressure will bring cool and dry weather to the Ohio Valley, the northern Mid-Atlantic and New England on Saturday.
Meanwhile, a low pressure system will lift north northeastward from the southern Plains to the upper Mississippi Valley. This system will usher a mixture of rain and snow across the southern high Plains, the central Plains, the eastern edge of the northern Plains and the upper Mississippi Valley. A cold frontal boundary stretching southwestward will initiate showers and thunderstorms over the southern Plains and the middle Mississippi Valley. In addition, moderate to heavy snow will impact the central and southern Rockies. Winter storm warnings are in place for southeast Colorado.
Out west, a Pacific cold front will bring light rain and high elevation snow to parts of northern California, western Oregon and western Washington. A ridge of high pressure over the eastern Pacific will keep conditions dry across the Southwest.
