A strong storm system will unleash heavy rain and thunderstorms across northeastern Argentina and Uruguay from Friday afternoon into Saturday.
Cities such as Cordoba, Rosario, Buenos Aires, Argentina and Montevideo, Uruguay, will be in the path of this powerful storm which will bring a high risk for flash flooding.
Showers and thunderstorms will develop from Tandil to Rio Cuarto and Cordoba, Argentina, on Friday unleashing heavy rainfall and strong winds.
Farther north and east, spotty showers and thunderstorms will be possible from Rosario to Buenos Aires, Argentina, late in the day with heavy rain and thunderstorms advancing into these areas Friday night and Saturday.
The heavy rain and thunderstorms will reach Montevideo, Uruguay, late Friday night into Saturday before tapering off Saturday night.
Total rainfall of 25-75 mm (1-3 inches) is expected throughout the region with locally higher amounts. Along with the threat for flash flooding, any thunderstorms can produce wind gusts of 65-80 km/h (40-50 mph).

Farther north areas from Santa Fe to Salto, Argentina, eastward through northern Uruguay will be at risk for strong to severe thunderstorms from Saturday night into Sunday.
These storms will be capable of producing wind gusts in excess of 80 km/h (50 mph), hail and flash flooding.
High pressure following this storm will bring the return to dry weather to northern Argentina early next week while the threat for thunderstorms will continue across northern Uruguay.
