LIVE: Severe Storms Unfolding Across Portions of the Plains and Midwest

June 21,2014; 8:30PM,EDT

Severe thunderstorms, bringing the threat of large hail, flooding downpours and damaging winds are developing over portions of the northern Plains and Midwest.
Strong storms moved through the Chicago area Saturday evening, causing ground delays at Chicago O'Hare International Airport and Chicago Midway International Airport. The start of the game between the Chicago Cubs and Pittsburgh Pirates at Wrigley Field was also delayed.
"Storms will continue to fire across this region into the evening hours, producing a threat for damaging wind gusts to 70 mph and large, damaging hail," said AccuWeather.com Meteorologist Brian Edwards.
A second area of concern is located across the High Plains from Nebraska through western Minnesota with an enhanced threat for damaging wind gusts and large, destructive hail. Edwards added that hailstones could reach the size of baseballs in parts of the Dakotas and Nebraska.
