Several Pacific systems will bring impacts to the West Coast on Sunday, while an active weather pattern fires up over the lower Mississippi Valley.
A couple of disturbances will shift over the West Coast and the Intermountain West. Heavy rain and mountain snow will continue across portions of California, the Pacific Northwest, the Great Basin and the Intermountain West. Flash flood watches are in place for northern California and southwest Oregon. Winter storm warnings are in effect for the northern Sierra Nevada and the southern Cascades. Snow will be measured in the feet for the two mountain ranges, as well as parts of the Sawtooth Range and the Salmon River Mountains in Idaho. Strong winds will also affect northern California, southern Oregon and northwest Nevada. High wind warnings are in place across the region, while high wind watches have been issued for northwest Oregon and western Washington. In addition, winter storm watches are in effect for the northwestern corner of Wyoming in anticipation of heavy snow. The Desert Southwest will stay mostly clear of wet weather.
To the east, a low pressure system will shift eastward over the southern Plains and the lower Mississippi Valley. Severe thunderstorms will be possible in southeast Oklahoma, eastern Texas, northern Louisiana, Arkansas, southwest Tennessee and northwest Mississippi.
