Weather Underground Forecast for Friday,March 11,2016

Active weather will continue across the Deep South on Friday, while a Pacific system moves onshore over the West Coast.

An area of low pressure will move slowly eastward over the southern Plains and the western Gulf Coast. This system will draw warm and moist air from the Gulf of Mexico, which will lead to heavy rain and thunderstorms over the region. Prolonged heavy rain will bring threats of flash flooding to extreme eastern Texas, Louisiana, southern Arkansas, Mississippi and southwest Alabama. Showers and thunderstorms will also be possible from the central Plains to the southern Mid-Atlantic. A dry weather pattern will prevail across the northern Plains, the upper Midwest and the Northeast on Friday.

Out west, a Pacific low pressure system will trek east northeastward over northern California. This system will usher moderate to heavy rain and high elevation snow across the Pacific Northwest, northern California and parts of the upper Intermountain West. A cold frontal boundary associated with this system will produce similar weather conditions over southern California. Heavy snow will be possible along western facing slopes across the Sierra Nevada. Winter weather advisories are in place for the Sierra, while widespread flash flood watches are in effect for northern California.
