The Easter Sunday holiday may be filled with soaking thunderstorms, snow or just a nuisance rain in parts of the Midwest, South  and West. In other areas, plenty of sunshine may induce a case of spring fever.
Here's the forecast across the country, starting with the trouble spots.

Easter Sunday's Forecast

Southern Soaking

  • Thunderstorms may become numerous Sunday in the South from parts of Louisiana to South Carolina.
  • Flash flooding may be a threat with ground still saturated from the torrential rain event earlier this month. Several rivers remain above flood stage from east Texas into Mississippi.
  • Some of these storms may become severe, but the magnitude of that severe threat will become clearer in the days ahead.
  • (CITIES: Shreveport | New Orleans | Jacksonville)

Midwest Snow?

  • Weak low pressure will track into the mid-Mississippi or Ohio Valley.
  • The majority of precipitation should be in the form of rain from the Lower Missouri Valley to parts of the Ohio Valley and southern Great Lakes.
  • However, some wet snow is possible from parts of the central Plains into the southern Great Lakes.
  • (CITIES: Kansas City | St. Louis | Chicago)

Northwest Soggy

  • Valley rain and mountain snow showers are expected in the Northwest, stretching as far east as the Bitterroots of western Montana.
  • This won't be a heavy rain or snow event, but snow levels will be rather low in the Cascades.
  • (CITIES: Seattle | Portland)

Fabulous Holiday

  • The Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states should remain dry with fairly seasonable temperatures, except a little chillier conditions near the coast thanks to onshore winds.
  • Plenty of sunshine can be expected in the Southwest and Southern California, though some stronger afternoon winds are possible in parts of Arizona and New Mexico.
  • (CITIES: New York | Washington D.C. | Phoenix | L.A.)
