Heavy Rain to Soak Central, Southern US This Week

November 3,2014; 8:12PM,EDT

A storm will gather across the Plains this week, and it will initiate heavy rainfall across the central and southern U.S., including drought-stricken portions of Texas.
The storm will tap into moisture from the Gulf of Mexico, and it may even pull moisture in from Vance by midweek.

The heaviest rainfall will occur on Tuesday across portions of Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Texas where some areas could receive over 2 inches.
This heavy rain could cause localized flooding in poor drainage areas, but it will bring relief to the drought, especially over Oklahoma and Texas.

Heavy rain may shift east to drench Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama late Wednesday into Thursday. Localized flooding is possible with the heaviest rain.
Houston to New Orleans will be soaked by the rain from the storm, and residents should keep a close eye on the forecast and any flood-related watches and warnings. Motorists who travel along the I-10 corridor should be prepared for slow travel and blinding downpours.
