Hurricane Kate was the 11th named system of the 1985 Atlantic hurricane
season. While Kate was the latest tropical system in any calendar year
to strike the United States at hurricane intensity, it was also the
strongest landfalling system in the month of November. Kate caused a
total of $1.4 billion in damages as well as 15 deaths.
