Missouri to Michigan Face Snow, Freeze Up Threat Monday

Milder air pouring into the Midwest will quickly be replaced by snow, plunging temperatures and travel hazards to kick off Thanksgiving week.
The storm responsible for bringing the mild spell to an end will also cause a band of snow to develop from Missouri to Lower Michigan Sunday night through Monday night.
The snow alone will be disruptive to travelers by dropping a couple to several inches from northern Missouri to northern and central Lower Michigan.
Within this zone lies Davenport, Iowa; Chicago and Rockford, Illinois; Madison and Racine, Wisconsin; and Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Plunging temperatures will add to the hazards for motorists and those traveling by foot.
Initially, the snow will not stick to roads and sidewalks. However as temperatures then plunge to below freezing, any wet or slushy areas will turn icy and slippery. Bridges and overpasses would be the first to turn slick.
Motorists should prepare for slick travel on stretches of I-39, I-43, I-74, I-80, I-90 and I-94.

While the steadiest snow is expected to unfold to the northeast of Kansas City, slick spots are also a concern in the city Sunday night.
AccuWeather.com meteorologists are especially concerned for slick travel around Chicago Monday evening. Commuters are urged to use caution and allow extra time to head home.
The colder air will be ushered in by blustery winds, causing AccuWeather.com RealFeel® temperatures to plunge into the teens in many of the same communities set to receive snow.

A couple of snow showers will linger into Tuesday across Michigan as all of the Midwest endures another chilly day.
On the heels of this storm will be another that will bring nuisance snow for holiday travelers across the Upper Midwest on Wednesday.
