Weather Underground Forecast for Sunday,February 21,2016
A cold front will slide across the southeastern quadrant of the country on Sunday, while a Pacific system moves over the Northwest.
An area of low pressure will move east northeastward over northern New England and southeast Canada. A pair of cold frontal boundaries will trail this area of low pressure. The first frontal system will extend southwestward across the northern Mid-Atlantic, the Ohio Valley, the middle Mississippi Valley and the central Plains. As this frontal boundary moves east southeastward, it will generate rain and thunderstorms across the southern Plains, the middle Mississippi Valley and the Deep South. Locally heavy rain will be possible from the southern Ohio Valley to the Mid-Atlantic. A mixture of light rain and snow will spread across southern Michigan, the northern Mid-Atlantic and southern New England. A secondary cold front will extend westward over northern New England, the Great Lakes and the northern Plains. A blast of arctic air will trail this system, while light to moderate snow develops from eastern North Dakota to northwest New England.
Temperatures will remain 10 to 25 degrees above normal across parts of the Desert Southwest and the southern Plains as high pressure builds over the eastern Pacific and the Four Corners.
Additionally, a Pacific cold front will swing across the Northwest. Moderate to heavy rain and high elevation snow will impact Oregon and Washington. Lighter snow will push eastward over the northern Rockies throughout Sunday evening.
