Weather Underground Forecast for Saturday, February 27,2016

A cold front will shift across the Intermountain West on Saturday, while a ridge of high pressure keeps most states dry east of the Mississippi River.

A cold frontal boundary will stretch south southwestward across the upper Intermountain West, the Great Basin and central California. As this frontal system transitions eastward, it will generate light to moderate rain and high elevation snow over the central and northern Rockies, as well as the northern high Plains. Locally heavy snow will be possible along western facing mountain slopes across western Montana and western Wyoming. Light precipitation will also be possible over the Pacific Northwest through Saturday morning. High pressure will influence a warm and dry weather pattern across the Southwest. Temperatures will spike 10 to 20 degrees above normal across southern California and the Desert Southwest.

Meanwhile, an area of low pressure will slide eastward over southeast Canada. This system will bring chances of light snow to the upper Great Lakes, Upstate New York and northwest New England. A ridge of high pressure centered over the Gulf Coast will bring dry conditions to the southern Plains, the Deep South, the Southeast, the Mid-Atlantic and the Midwest. A cold, arctic air mass will remain in place over the Ohio Valley, the northern Mid-Atlantic and New England on Saturday.
