While balmy air and rain will affect State College and central Pennsylvania into Thursday night, a return of colder air will be accompanied by a change to snow and slippery travel late Friday.
Temperatures surged well into the 50s Thursday afternoon, but by the late-afternoon hours Friday, temperatures will be close to the freezing mark (32 F).
Enough wintry precipitation could occur to hinder travel locally Friday afternoon into Friday night, and in a swath from Texas to parts of Ohio and other portions of western and central Pennsylvania.

The change to snow will progress to the south and east Friday evening.
Commuters should be prepared for slippery roads for the drive home and for evening activities Friday. Parts of the area can be blanketed by several inches of snow.
The weekend will be cold around central Pennsylvania with high temperatures within a few degrees of freezing.
After a break from precipitation on Saturday, another round of snow, wintry mix and slippery travel is forecast for Sunday into early Monday.

2.5 mile run this morning in 23 minutes + delicious post-run french toast. Now sitting in Starbucks as the rain begins to fall.
