After heavy rain and some localized flash flooding in the city on Saturday night, dry weather and sunshine will return to Atlanta.
The Atlanta area received between 1.5 and 2 inches of rain from the storm through 8 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013.
Atlanta started to dry out Sunday afternoon with improving travel conditions.
Temperatures will dip a little, nearing 53 degrees at the start of the week, but return to the mid-50s at midweek. Overnight temperatures will plummet down to the upper 20s and low 30s for much of the week.
Monday through Wednesday will feature at least partly sunny skies with no precipitation in the forecast. A few days of sunshine will help to dry out the soggy land.
Clear skies are in the forecast for New Year's Eve celebrations, however those headed outdoors should bring a jacket. The air will feel cold as temperatures decrease almost 20 degrees from the daytime, falling into the 30s by midnight.
