Snow that whitened Harrisburg on Sunday is being followed by an icy mix.
After emerging from north-central West Virginia, a band of heavy snow took aim at Maryland and Philadelphia. A widespread swath of 4 to 8 inches of snow was measured with locally higher totals.
The heavy snow bypassed Harrisburg, but some snow still whitened the city during the afternoon.
Sunday night, the snow will transition to an icy mix that will keep travel slick and treacherous.
Shoveling will become a much harder task to complete due to the icy mix further weighing the snow down.
Enough cold air could still be around Monday morning for some slippery spots before a transition to plain drizzle as temperatures rebound to the lower 40s.
