Weather Underground Forecast for Friday,February 19,2016

A low pressure system will bring messy weather to the northern tier of the country on Friday, while a Pacific system impacts the Northwest.

A robust area of low pressure will move east northeastward from the northern Plains to the upper Great Lakes. This system will produce winds in excess of 60 mph across portions of the Plains, the upper Mississippi Valley and the Great Lakes. Warm air will stream northward ahead of this system, creating areas of rain, freezing rain, sleet and snow from The Dakotas to New England. Temperatures will be 10 to 25 degrees above normal across a handful of states stretching from the Plains to the Great Lakes. An expansive high pressure system should keep most areas dry across the Eastern Seaboard.

Meanwhile, a Pacific low pressure system will approach the coast of British Columbia. A cold frontal boundary associated with this system will swing across the northwestern quadrant of the country. Moderate to heavy rain will develop from western Washington to northern California. Heavy snow is also expected across the Cascades and the northern Sierra Nevada. Precipitation will spread eastward across the upper Intermountain West and the Great Basin throughout the second half of Friday.
