Weather Underground Forecast for Monday,February 1,2016

A low pressure system will bring major impacts to the Southwest and the Intermountain West on Monday, while a separate system affects the Northeast.

A robust area of low pressure will move east northeastward over the Four Corners. This system will pack gusty winds and moderate to heavy precipitation. Heavy snow showers will bring impacts to the White Mountains, the Wasatch, the central Rockies, the southern Rockies and the central Plains. Winter storm warnings are in place for Arizona, Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, Kansas and southwest Nebraska. High wind watches and warnings are in place for a handful of states. Light to moderate precipitation will also linger over parts of southern California and the Great Basin throughout Monday morning. In addition, low elevation rain will spread across the Southwest, the Intermountain West and the southern high Plains.

Meanwhile, rain and thunderstorms will fire up ahead of the aforementioned system across the eastern edge of the southern Plains, the middle Mississippi Valley and the lower Mississippi Valley.

Further to the east, a low pressure system will lift northeastward across the eastern Great Lakes and southeast Canada. A mixture of rain and snow will develop over the upper Midwest, the northern Mid-Atlantic and New England. A cold frontal boundary associated with this system will stretch southwestward from New York to the lower Mississippi Valley. As this frontal system transitions eastward, light rain will develop across the Deep South, the Tennessee Valley, the Ohio Valley and parts of the Mid-Atlantic. The Southeast will stay relatively clear of precipitation, with the exception to scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms over southern Florida.
