Rounds of snow and slippery travel this week around Boston will be followed by the coldest air of the winter during the Valentine's Day weekend.
During the snowy episodes there can be a fresh slushy coating to an inch or two. However, the odds are against much accumulation on treated road surfaces during the midday and afternoon hours.

Highs will be in the 30s F through Thursday.
During Friday and through the weekend, much colder air will pour southward from eastern Canada.
The arctic outbreak this weekend will bring the lowest temperatures of the season so far. The combination of wind and cold will make for dangerous conditions for those not properly dressed.
Actual temperatures will be no higher than the teens by Sunday. AccuWeather RealFeel® temperatures will plunge below zero during the weekend.
As the leading edge of the arctic air moves in, there is a chance of a storm spinning up along the coast that could throw snow inland on Saturday. Even in the absence of an organized coastal storm, flurries and spotty squalls could bring a small accumulation of snow before the dry, arctic air takes hold.
