A bit of relief is possible from the California drought late this week in the San Francisco area.
A chance of showers is expected Thursday. If it does rain, it will be the first measurable precipitation in the region since Jan. 8.
Only 0.01 of an inch of precipitation has fallen in San Francisco as of Jan. 1, putting the city on pace for its driest January on record.
