A cold frontal boundary extended from the upper Intermountain West to
the upper Midwest on Sunday, while a separate cold front moved off of
the Eastern Seaboard.
Blizzard warnings and high wind warnings were issued across the upper
Intermountain West, the northern Plains and the upper Midwest on Sunday
as a cold frontal boundary stretched across the region. Light snow began
to move across Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, Nebraska, Minnesota,
Iowa and Wisconsin. Wind chill warnings were also issued across the
northern tier of the country as another arctic air mass approached the
area. Oconto, Wis., recorded a morning low of -15 degrees, while Sault
Ste Marie, Mich., recorded a morning low of -14 degrees with a windchill
factor of -26 degrees.
Snow showers also moved across the Northeast on Sunday as a cold front
made its way off of the East Coast. Allegheny, Pa., reported a midday
total of 1.9 inches of snow, while Coshocton, Ohio, reported a midday
total of 3.0 inches of snow. Cold, blustery conditions were also present
in the Northeast, as Mount Washington, N.H., recorded a morning low of
-25 degrees with a windchill factor of -75 degrees.
The majority of the West Coast remained mostly sunny on Sunday, although
a cluster of showers skimmed the coast of southern California.
