Following the disruptive round of snow early Thursday, dangerous cold will return to the city for the start of February.
Very heavy snow, falling at rates up to 1 inch an hour, led to a slick morning commute for those traveling around the city Thursday morning. Motorists encountered dangerous travel conditions on Interstate 35. Some vehicles spun out and semi-trucks jackknifed on the highway, according to the Minneapolis Department of Transportation.
Temperatures will be dangerously cold, falling below minus 15 F. Anyone outdoors should wear the proper clothing, as temperatures this low could cause cold-related illnesses such as hypothermia and frostbite.

On Friday, temperatures will rise back into the single digits during the daytime hours despite partial sunshine.
