As cold air shuffles into the West and Central states, warmth will build in the East, bringing above-average temperatures to the Boston area this week.
High temperatures will be in the 50s through Thursday and will be near 50 on Friday.
The first half of the week will be free of rain for much of the area and will feature some episodes of sunshine.
Folks attending the tree lighting festivities at Boston Common Thursday will not have to face harsh weather conditions and mid-January RealFeel® temperatures.
Spotty showers are in the offing Thursday.
However, it could get rather wet at times later Thursday night into Friday night with the potential for travel delays.

It will turn colder over the weekend but odds are against significant snow or ice at the tail end of the rain late Friday night into Saturday morning in the Boston area.
