A storm with torrential rain, sleet and ice that has been creating treacherous travel across portions of the South will continue to spread northward through midweek.
Snow, sleet and ice will continue to expand across the interior Northeast, creating nightmares for Thanksgiving travelers. A widespread zone of 3-6 inches of snow will fall from the central Appalachians to northern New England through Wednesday. Locally, more than a foot of snow will bury upstate portions of New York.
Rain and wind will slow travel both on the ground and in the air along the East Coast, including the highly populated I-95 corridor.
AAA reports that more than 43 million people will travel for this Thanksgiving, with the biggest percentage of people, 37 percent, doing so on Wednesday.
