The East was walloped by a storm on Tuesday and Wednesday, which spread snow, torrential rain and wind northward, while millions of people traveled for Thanksgiving.
AAA reports that more than 43 million people were expected to travel for this Thanksgiving, with the biggest percentage of travelers, or 37 percent, making their way Wednesday.
Rain fell from New York to New England throughout the day Wednesday, causing multiple Thanksgiving travel disruptions. Snowflakes also mixed in with rain in portions of the Northeast.
On Wednesday evening high winds threatened areas along the I-95 corridor from Richmond, Va., to Philadelphia, Pa., and into eastern New England.
Flight Delays Across the US
In areas where precipitation fell in the last 12 hours, wet roads are likely to ice up overnight Wednesday, creating potentially slick travel conditions for Thanksgiving morning.
Additionally, lake effect snow off of Lake Ontario beginning late Wednesday evening is expected to drop anywhere from three to six inches of snow on areas in northern Indiana, far northwestern Pennsylvania and northeastern Ohio through Thursday night.

7:15 p.m. EST Wednesday: General arrival and departure flights from the Philadelphia International Airport have returned to normal with delays of 15 minutes or less. However, the Newark and John F. Kennedy International Airports, as well as the La Guardia Airport are still experiencing delays due to wind.6:30 p.m. EST Wednesday: Delays at the Philadelphia International Airport are averaging more than two hours right now due to low clouds, according to the FAA.
5:15 p.m. EST Wednesday: Heavy rain along the East Coast continues to fall with some of the heaviest rain falling from Providence, R.I. to Boston. However, the western suburbs of Philadelphia and the areas in and around Albany, N.Y. have either transitioned or begun to transition from rain into snow.
4:18 p.m. EST Wednesday: PennDOT reports wet roads with freezing conditions through central Pennsylvania.
A traffic camera is partially covered by raindrops and melted snow at a rest area along I-81, near Mountain Top, Pa.3:25 p.m. EST Wednesday: Winds are picking up across the Northeast. Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in Washington, D.C., is now experiencing delays of approximately 40 minutes due to wind, according to the FAA.
2:23 p.m. EST Wednesday: Due to low clouds, flights destined to the Philadelphia International Airport are currently experiencing delays averaging almost two hours, according to the FAA. Flights headed to the John F. Kennedy International Airport and the Newark International Airport, N.J., are also experiencing delays of between 30 to 50 minutes due to wind.
1:30 p.m. EST Wednesday: Flight delays in Atlanta have been lowered to "significant." For airports in Newark and Nantucket, however, the "significant" status is an increase from their earlier listing as moderate.
12:40 p.m. EST Wednesday: FlightStats list excessive delays at Atlanta, due to delays at airports farther north battling the weather. Excessive delays also listed in Philadelphia, due to rain.
12:08 p.m. EST Wednesday:Between 0.5 inches and 2 inches of snow have fallen across western Virginia. Meanwhile, eastern Virginia continues to receive rain and gusty winds.

09:52 a.m. EST Wednesday: 511 NY reports numerous snow and ice covered roads throughout Buffalo, Rochester, Ithaca, Syracuse and Utica, N.Y. Roads primarily wet in Binghamton, Albany and Schenectady.
8:26 a.m. EST Wednesday: Massachusetts State Police are reporting the eastbound lane on Storrow Drive by Massachusetts General Hospital closed due to a fallen tree across the roadway.
8:17 a.m. EST Wednesday: Maintenance crews are reporting areas of snow on the Western Pennsylvania Turnpike. Route 376 and 279 are also reported wet with freezing conditions.
7:05 a.m. EST Wednesday: Coastal flooding is occurring with strong onshore winds from New York to southeastern New England. A motorist was rescued after being stranded in flood waters at Grove Beach, Conn. Water was flowing into a parking lot at a marina along the mount of the Housatonic River in Stratford, Conn.
6:47 a.m. EST Wednesday: Stoneboro, Pa., has received 9.8 inches of snow from the storm so far.
5:20 a.m. EST Wednesday: Flash flooding was reported on the Bronx River Parkway, closing the southbound lanes.
4:52 a.m. EST Wednesday: Winds were really howling along the New York and New England Coastline early in the morning. Wind gusts up to 47 mph were reported at Kennedy International Airport on Long Island.
2:45 a.m. EST Wednesday: After the heavy rain in Pittsburgh, Pa., came a brief period of dry weather. However, another wave in the from of snow move into the region.
2:00 a.m. EST Wednesday: US 11 in upstate New York was closed near Malone due to a crash caused by snow and wintry mix.
12:25 a.m. EST Wednesday: Some of the storm's highest snowfall totals are in Mercer County, Pa., where about 9 inches of snow have been reported.
11:05 p.m. EST Tuesday: With cold air moving in behind it, the storm is even affecting the Southeast. Multiple public reports and the National Weather Service Office in Jackson indicated some measurable snowfall mixing in with the rain in central Mississippi.
9:40 p.m. EST Tuesday: Ice storm continues in State College, Pa., about 0.2 of an inch of ice so far outside AccuWeather's Global Weather Center.

8:20 p.m. EST Tuesday: Icicles cover a traffic camera along I-68 in Savage Mountain, Md.
8:15 p.m. EST Tuesday: An NWS spotter reports 0.25 of an inch of freezing rain in Oakland, Md.
7:54 p.m. EST Tuesday: A ground stop is in effect for the Philadelphia International Airport due to low clouds, according to the FAA. Memphis International Airport is also experiencing a ground delay for arriving traffic due to wind.
7:30 p.m. EST Tuesday: Freezing rain is currently falling in and around Centre County, Pa. More than 1,000 West Penn Power customers in the area have lost power.
6:30 p.m. EST Tuesday: Most of Pennsylvania's precipitation has now switched over to rain or freezing rain. However, it is still snowing in the northwestern parts of the state.
5:48 p.m. EST Tuesday: The brunt of the storm is currently centered around the areas from Pittsburgh, Pa., to Binghamton, N.Y. While Pittsburgh's precipitation has now switched to rain, areas from northwestern Pennsylvania through New York will get snow this evening.
4:55 p.m. EST Tuesday: Flights arriving to the Newark International Airport, N.J., are currently under a traffic management ground stop program due to wind, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
4:45 p.m. EST Tuesday: A ground stop is in effect for flights arriving to the Charlotte Douglas International Airport, N.C., due to wind.
4:02 p.m. EST Tuesday: There have been no major problems reported in south-central Pennsylvania, although it has been raining since noon, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation District Nine Spokeswoman Tara Callahan-Henry said. "The biggest issue is that the rain has washed off salt residue from the roadway, there is a chance of a re-freeze," Callahan-Henry said. PennDOT has about 200 trucks available in the district.
This traffic camera shows the road conditions on Route 22 at Cresson Summit in Cambria County, Pa.3:25 p.m. EST Tuesday: A total of 226 arriving and departing flights have been either cancelled or delayed at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport today. The city's rainy and foggy conditions will continue into the evening hours.
2:40 p.m. EST Tuesday: La Guardia Airport in New York is currently experiencing delays due to low clouds in the area. General arrival delays are 15 minutes or less.

A message from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation this morning still applies: "The Pennsylvania Turnpike has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Motorists traveling on the Pennsylvania Turnpike on Interstate 576. Motorists should keep alert for rapidly changing weather conditions that will cause wet or icy roadways. Use caution, reduce your speed and keep an added distance from the vehicle you are following. Keep alert for maintenance personnel applying treatments and clearing the roadway. Do not attempt to pass maintenance crews, that are treating the roadway."
12:00 p.m. EST Tuesday: An NWS-trained spotter reported 4 inches of snow in Westmoreland County, Pa. PennDOT reports slick roads in the area.

11:00 a.m. EST Tuesday: An accident is listed on I-270 near Franklin, Ohio. Another, on State Route 595, has caused a closure of the road around Perry. Mostly wet and some icy conditions are spread across the state, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation:

ODOT.10:35 a.m. EST Tuesday: The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation lists wet roads with freezing conditions on portions of I-70 in the central and southern parts of the state.
10:15 a.m. EST Tuesday: According to the FAA, there are no longer delays at ATL.
9:55 a.m. EST Tuesday: A quarter of an inch of freezing rain has accumulated in Columbus, N.C., where the North Carolina Department of Transportation relayed to the NWS that trees were being weighed down on Polk County roads.
9:30 a.m. EST Tuesday: According to the FAA, departure traffic destined to the William B. Hartsfield International Airport in Atlanta will not be allowed to leave until 10:30 a.m. EST or later due to dense fog.
9:15 a.m. EST Tuesday: Snow amounts of 2-4 inches are widespread across southwestern Pennsylvania. A total of 3.8 inches of snow have been recorded Greensburg, Pa. The western part of the Pennsylvania Turnpike is slippery, and motorists are urged to use caution. According to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, the turnpike is currently being treated.
