Winter Storm Ursula Will Bring Snow To Great Lakes, Northeast (FORECAST)

Winter Storm Ursula was named Sunday afternoon when the National Weather Service issued winter storm warnings covering more than 2 million people, meeting the population criteria.

Winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories have been issued from Michigan to southern New England for Sunday night into Monday. Most areas will see light to moderate snow, with some areas possibly receiving 5 to 8 inches through Monday.

Ursula is currently bringing to parts of the the Great Lakes region and the snow will continue to spread east overnight into Monday.

Current Radar and Conditions
Winter Storm Ursula is part of a series of clipper systems impacting the Midwest and Northeast. The first clipper system brought snow and powerful winds to parts of the Midwest and Northeast regions Saturday into Sunday morning. Winds gusted over 60 mph in some areas, downing many trees and knocking out power to thousands in parts of those regions. Winter Storm Ursula Forecast

With the cold air in place, more snow is expected in parts of the Upper Midwest, Great Lakes and Northeast. Winds will be gusty at times, although winds are not expected to be as strong as this weekend.

  • Sunday: Low pressure will bring snow to the Upper Midwest and northern Great Lakes during the day.
  • Sunday night-Monday: Snow spreads from the northern Great Lakes to Upstate New York, northern Pennsylvania and New England.
  • Accumulations: A narrow corridor will see up to 6 inches of total snow from southern New York to southern New England, though the majority of locations will see 1 to 3 inches.
  • The Monday morning commute will likely be impacted by the snow in Albany, New York, Boston, and Hartford, Connecticut.
  • A rare April flash freeze is also possible in southern New England on Monday, which could create slippery conditions for the evening commute.
