A low pressure system will shift slowly across the Intermountain West on Monday, while a separate system moves across the upper Mississippi Valley.
An area of low pressure will deepen as it pushes slowly eastward from the Great Basin to the Intermountain West. This system will usher light to moderate rain and high elevation snow across interior California, the Great Basin and the Intermountain West. Locally heavy snow will be possible in the Ruby Mountains and the northern Rockies. Winter storm watches are in place for northeast Nevada. Winter weather advisories are also in effect for southwest Idaho and parts of eastern Wyoming. Strong winds will develop over portions of the Southwest. Wind advisories are in effect for central California, southern California and western Arizona. Additionally, an onshore flow from the Pacific will fuel light showers in parts of western Washington and western Oregon.
Meanwhile, a low pressure system will transition east northeastward across the upper Mississippi Valley. A mixture of rain, snow and embedded thunderstorms will develop from the northern Plains to the Northeast. A cold frontal boundary will also generate showers and thunderstorms across the central Plains and the Midwest. Most of the southern Plains will experience dry weather on Monday.
