Chilly air settled into the Midwest and Northeast this weekend, bringing an early taste of winter across the region. As the cold remains through Sunday, raindrops will be transformed by the cold air into the first snowflakes of the season for many.
Snowflakes began as early as Saturday morning downwind of Lake Michigan and Lake Huron into parts of Michigan and southern Ontario. As wind began to pick up and drag the chilly air across the lakes, more snow reached into northern New York and parts of Vermont and New Hampshire.

As the cold persists throughout the day on Sunday, accumulations of wet snow will be possible for parts of Vermont, Maine and Ontario, Canada.
While a light dusting could reach as far as central Pennsylvania and New York, accumulations are expected to remain light outside the lake-effect belt areas and higher elevations.
Those out and about this weekend, should look out for slick spots on roadways and sidewalks.
