Tropical Depression Ida Hangs on in the Atlantic (FORECAST)

September 25,2015
  • Tropical Storm Ida was named last Friday night, Sept. 18, and is located more than 1,100 miles east-northeast of the northern Leeward Islands.
  • Ida was downgraded to a tropical depression on Thursday morning, Sept. 24.
  • Ida is drifting north over the open central Atlantic Ocean.
  • Despite warm sea surface temperatures, wind shear and dry air have taken their toll on Ida, causing it to weaken.
  • While Ida may degenerate to a remnant low this weekend, there is a possibility it could better organize next week.
  • The system should slowly move northwest to west over the open Atlantic over the next few days, remaining far from land.
