- Tropical Storm Ida was named last Friday night, Sept. 18, and is located just under 1,100 miles east-northeast of the northern Leeward Islands.
- Ida was downgraded to a tropical depression on Thursday morning, Sept. 24.
- Ida is drifting northwest over the open central Atlantic Ocean.
- Despite warm sea surface temperatures, wind shear and dry air have taken their toll on Ida, causing it to weaken.
- While Ida may degenerate to a remnant low at any time, there is a possibility it could linger into the week ahead.
- The system should slowly move northwest to west over the open Atlantic over the next few days, remaining far from land.
