Weather Underground Forecast for Thursday,March 12,2015

Wet weather is expected to persist for the Southeast on Thursday, while a trough of low pressure brings more scattered showers across the West. A low pressure system spinning over the western Gulf of Mexico advances northeastward and pulls abundant moisture and energy in from the Gulf. This will produce moderate to heavy rainfall across the lower Mississippi Valley and into the Tennessee Valley. Flood warnings will remain in effect for these areas as heavy rainfall has persisted across the region for the past few days. Expect rainfall totals to range from 1 to 2 inches across Louisiana and Arkansas, with isolated areas possibly seeing over 2 inches of rain. The cold front that brought precipitation to the mid-Atlantic states on Wednesday will slide southward and bring scattered showers into Florida. Significant rainfall is not expected for these areas as the front diminishes throughout the day.

Meanwhile in the West, a trough of low pressure that brought rain and high elevation snow to the West Coast on Wednesday continues advancing eastward over the Rockies. This system will bring light precipitation to Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, and Colorado on Thursday. Warm air associated with this system will keep snow levels to highest mountain passes across the Rockies. Expect rainfall totals to vary around 0.15 to 0.25 inches.
