A snowstorm walloped the Midwest and Northeast Tuesday, dumping several inches across Washington, D.C., Philadelphia and New York City.
The heavy snow caused slippery travel across both of the regions, resulting in thousands of airline cancellations by early Tuesday afternoon.
In Washington, D.C., all federal offices were closed Tuesday in anticipation of the storm. Public schools were also closed across numerous cities.
In the wake of the storm, a deep freeze is settling in, bringing another round of dangerously cold air.
