Enough snow to shovel and plow, blowing and drifting snow and plunging temperatures will head to the Baltimore area Tuesday.
After a mild start to the week, a storm originating from Western Canada will strengthen upon nearing the coast Tuesday into Tuesday night and will lead to dramatically colder conditions and travel delays.
Ice can form on paved and concrete surfaces beneath the snow.

Temperatures will hover in the 20s during Tuesday and will fall through the teens Tuesday night as the wind increases. RealFeel® temperatures will dip into the single digits and can drop to near zero at times Tuesday night.
Gusty winds on Wednesday will cause additional blowing and drifting snow.
Cold and windy weather will then continue through much of the balance of the week.
The heaviest snow from the storm is likely to fall on Delmarva and some of the mountains of West Virginia and Virginia, where local amounts could approach 1 foot. Snow will fall from parts of North Carolina to New England with the storm on Tuesday. The snow was streaking through the Midwest on Monday.
