Weather Underground Forecast for Sunday,August 4,2013.
Wet weather will diminish for the Eastern states on Sunday, while
showers and thunderstorms will persist across the Plains. A low pressure
system continues strengthening as it moves off the Central Rockies and
into the Plains. This system will create a warm front that extends
eastward, bringing strong storms to the Southern and Central Plains.
These storms have a history of turning severe with strong winds and
large hail. Thus, expect areas of strong storms to develop. At the same
time, a trough of low pressure moves in from the north, pushing
scattered showers into the Northern Plains and Upper Midwest. Heavy
rainfall and strong storms are not expected in these areas.
In the East, a cold front moves offshore and allows for high pressure to
build across the Eastern states. This will push moisture away to the
south and east, allowing for dry and pleasant conditions to spread
throughout the region. However, the tail end of the cold front lingers
over the Southeast, maintaining chances of scattered showers and
thunderstorms to develop from the Lower Mississippi River Valley through
northern Florida.
Out West, monsoonal moisture remains limited over the Four Corners,
which will decrease chances of storms over the region on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the West Coast will see little change in weather as a trough
of low pressure offshore maintains onshore flow, keeping coastal areas
cool and cloudy, while inland areas will see another hot and sunny day.
