Boston: Storms to be Frequent Visitors This Week

Rounds of showers and locally strong thunderstorms will affect the Boston area and much of New England this week with sporadic travel disruptions.
A few of the storms can be severe, bringing the risk of damaging wind gusts and flash flooding to a small number of communities.
Despite the risk of storms most days this week, it will likely rain less than a quarter of the time for folks with outdoor plans. Most of the showers and storms will not be intense, but can disturb activities on several occasions over the islands, Cape Cod and the mainland.

People will want to check interactive weather radar before venturing out on their commute, and beach and boating activities, as the storms may not be limited to the afternoon and evening hours and can occur at multiple times during the day.

Sporadic delays are possible from a few of the storms at Logan, along the Mass Pike, 128 and 495.

A southward dip in steering-level winds high in the atmosphere will provide an avenue for the storms to travel upon from northwest to southeast across the region.
The steering winds and the storms will keep a massive heat wave over the Midwest at bay this week. Only if the steering winds retreat northward, would some of that heat roll in next week over New England. There is just as much chance it trends even cooler next week.
