Weather Underground Forecast for Wednesday,August 24,2016

A frontal system will impact the central third of the country on Wednesday, while high pressure brings above normal temperatures to the Northwest.

A low pressure area will transition eastward across south central Canada and the upper Great Lakes. A cold frontal boundary associated with this system will extend southwestward from the upper Mississippi Valley to the central Rockies. As this frontal boundary pushes eastward, it will produce rain and thunderstorms across the Great Lakes, the Midwest, the Mississippi Valley and the central Plains. Severe thunderstorms will be possible in southern Iowa, northern Missouri, southeast Nebraska and northeast Kansas. These thunderstorms will be capable of producing large hail, dangerous straight line winds and isolated tornadoes. Thunderstorms will also develop as far west as the Four Corners due to monsoonal moisture over the region.

The remnants of a stationary front will keep scattered showers and thunderstorms in the picture for portions of the Deep South. Most areas across the East Coast will experience dry and pleasant weather as high pressure builds over the Mid-Atlantic.

High pressure will also build over the eastern Pacific, keeping areas west of the Continental Divide mostly clear of precipitation. Temperatures will soar 10 to 15 degrees above normal across the Pacific Northwest on Wednesday.
