After showers threaten to spoil outdoor plans over the weekend, Monday will feature great weather for the bank holiday in Wales and England.Drier air will filter across the southern United Kingdom on Monday in the wake of the pair of depressions delivering showers, some thundery, on Saturday and Sunday.
Fog can start the day in a few areas. Otherwise, those traveling home from holiday destinations should not encounter weather-related delays in England and Wales.
The AA estimates that there will be more than 13 million drivers on leisure journeys this bank holiday weekend.
An odd shower lasting 30 minutes or less cannot be ruled out during the bank holiday. However, most residents in Wales and England will not find a need for brollies as sunny spells prevail.
The weather will be ideal for anyone heading to local parks, beaches and nature reserves. The same applies to those planning to attend the Cardiff Harbour Festival and Notting Hill Carnival.
Afternoon highs will be near to slightly above normal, ranging from 18-21 C (65-69 F) in northern England and Wales to 21-23 C (lower 70s F) in most of southern England.
Those spending a significant amount of time outdoors may want to pack sun cream.
The lack of rain and wind will make firing up barbecues easy for an afternoon or evening cookout.
