Weather Underground Forecast for Saturday,April 16,2016

A frontal system will bring stormy conditions to the Plains on Saturday, while a ridge of high pressure builds over the East Coast.

A cold frontal boundary will extend southwestward over the northern Plains, the central Plains and the lower Intermountain West. An area of low pressure will take shape along the southern portion of the cold front. As this system moves slowly eastward, it will produce heavy rain and strong thunderstorms over the south central portion of the country. Severe thunderstorms will be possible in western Oklahoma and western Texas. These thunderstorms will be capable of producing large hail, dangerous straight line winds and isolated tornadoes. Prolonged heavy rain could bring flash flooding to southwest Nebraska, western Kansas, eastern Colorado, western Oklahoma and western Texas. The same system will also produce heavy snow across the central Rockies and the central high Plains. Winter storm warnings are in place for eastern Utah, Colorado and southern Wyoming. A mixture of rain, snow and thunderstorms will spread across the northern Plains and the western tier of the upper Midwest.

Most states east of the Mississippi River will experience dry conditions due to a ridge of high pressure over the Northeast. Dry weather will also prevail west of the Continental Divide.
