Germany: Mild Monday to precede threat of rain next week

Mild weather will take the stage across Germany on Monday, before the threat for rain returns later in the week.
While a mild weekend will unfold, Monday will prove to be even nicer for most residents with outdoor plans.
Temperatures on Monday will top 14 C (58 F) with widespread highs of 18-20 C (64-68 F) from North Rhine-Westphalia to Baden-Württemberg.

Only Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania will not turn as warm as the rest of the country. Highs will generally be held to the lower teens C (lower 50s F). A slight breeze from the Baltic Sea will make the air feel a bit cooler.
Dry weather and sunshine will complement the mild air across most of central and eastern Germany. Anyone planning to eat outside, take a walk or enjoy any other outdoor activity will not have to worry about interruptions from the weather.
A front advancing east from Belgium and the Netherlands will bring a few showers to western Lower Saxony by the afternoon. Any rain, however, should not be enough to cancel outdoor plans or events.
Monday is also shaping up to be a dry day for Bremen, Frankfurt and Stuttgart. However, showers and thunderstorms are expected to cross into the southwest of the country by late afternoon or evening.

Some of the thunderstorms forecast to rattle Saarland, Rhineland-Pflaz and the southwestern corner of Baden-Württemberg on Monday afternoon may become severe, according to AccuWeather Meteorologist Tyler Roys.
Hail and frequent lightning would be the main dangers.
These thunderstorms could spread to Frankfurt and Stuttgart on Monday evening.
Showers and thunderstorms will then spread across the rest of Germany on Monday night into Tuesday. The scattered nature of the unsettled weather will prevent these time periods from being a washout, but rain gear will once again have to be brought out of the closet.
Those with outdoor plans should be cautious; as soon as thunder is heard, the danger of being struck by lightning is present.

More numerous showers and thunderstorms are likely to accompany a storm system sweeping through Germany at midweek, leading to more disruptions to outdoor plans.
Additional showers should follow for later next week. Odds favor the showers targeting more of northern Germany than southern areas.
Regardless of the increased rain chances after Monday, temperatures most days during the week will continue to rise above normal. Highs in mid-April are typically 12-14 C (54-58 F) across the country.
