Once-Tropical Storm Henri will track across the north Atlantic Ocean eventually interacting with a larger storm system and losing tropical characteristics. However, the addition of Henri's moisture to this large storm system will result in the threat for heavy rainfall from northern Spain into France next week.
Prior to reaching Europe, Henri will deliver a glancing blow to eastern Newfoundland, especially the Avalon Peninsula.
A period of rain is expected Friday night into Saturday morning across the region, including St. John's. Despite a moderate to at times heavy rain, flooding is not expected to be a widespread concern across eastern Newfoundland. Along with the rain there will be gusty winds however no widespread travel delays are anticipated.
Henri will then race across the northern Atlantic while interacting with a large low pressure system that will target northwest Spain by Tuesday.

Rain, some heavy, will become a more widespread threat on Wednesday with downpours possible from southern England through western France and northern Spain.
The details will become more clear after Henri combines with the larger storm over the north Atlantic; however, rainfall amounts over 50 mm (2 inches) are possible in the areas listed above, though not all areas will get this much rainfall.
