WeatherWhys for March 11,2015 from accuweather.com

One of the strongest and most widespread snowstorms occurred in March 1993. On Saturday morning, March 13, heavy snow was falling from central Alabama to Maine. The storm occurred when three jetstreams merged over the East. From the Deep South to New England the snow piled up over 20 inches. The storm produced violent winds through the eastern Gulf of Mexico which piled destructive flood waters into the West Coast of Florida. Wind gusts in Florida exceeded 70 mph when the southern flank of the storm roared through.
