Weather Underground Forecast for Monday,March 9,2015

Expect moderate to heavy rain to spread across the Mississippi and Tennessee Valleys on Monday. A strong low pressure system over Texas continues pulling moisture and energy in from the Gulf of Mexico as it advances northeastward over the Mississippi Valley and into the Tennessee Valley. Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected with this system as it has a history of producing flash flooding with rainfall totals ranging from 2 to 4 inches. Most areas will see at least an inch of rain through Monday evening, with heaviest rainfall expected to develop from Arkansas through the western half of Tennessee with several inches of rain possible. Flood advisories have been issued for these areas and will remain in effect through Tuesday evening.

Elsewhere across the nation, a warming trend will persist for the Eastern states and Northeast, with high temperatures returning to near-normal. The same story continues for the Great Lakes and extreme Northeast as a few weak troughs of low pressure maintain the possibility for scattered snow showers. If snow develops, expect only light accumulation with most areas seeing a dusting of snow.

Out West, expect another sunny and dry day with warm temperatures as a ridge of high pressure remains situated over the Western states.
