Weather Underground Forecast for Sunday,March 8,2015

Expect a warming trend for the Eastern states to start on Sunday, with moderate rain developing from Texas through the Gulf Coast. A trough of low pressure moving eastward across northern Mexico will advance northeastward and pick up moisture and energy from the Gulf of Mexico. This will allow for moderate to heavy rain showers to develop across most of Texas on Sunday and spreading across Louisiana, Mississippi, and Arkansas into Sunday evening. Rainfall totals will likely surpass 2 inches across central and southern Texas, with most areas seeing rainfall totals ranging from a half of an inch to an inch.

Meanwhile in the East, warmer temperatures will return as flow from the north weakens and allows for a gradual warming trend for the Eastern states. Another weak trough moves over the Great Lakes region, into the extreme Northeast, but only a few snow flurries are likely. If snow develops it will be scattered with only a dusting expected.

Out West, a broad and expansive ridge of high pressure remains the dominant weather feature over the Rockies and the West Coast. This will maintain warm and dry weather with record breaking high temperatures likely again in parts of southern California. Highs will reach into the mid- to upper 80s again for inland areas with the coasts seeing highs in the 70s again.
