cold front will extend from the Northeast to the southern Plains on
Wednesday, while a ridge of high pressure will build over the West
Coast.
A cold frontal boundary will stretch across New England, the Mid-Atlantic, the Tennessee Valley, the lower Mississippi Valley and the southern Plains. A complex weather pattern will develop along this frontal boundary as it shifts eastward on Wednesday. As moisture pools northward from the Gulf of Mexico, a swath of rain and freezing rain will develop across the southern Plains, the lower Mississippi Valley and the Deep South. Rain and thunderstorms will fire up over the western Gulf Coast. Meanwhile, moderate snow showers will develop across the central Plains, while a mixture of freezing rain and snow will impact the middle Mississippi Valley, the Tennessee Valley, the Ohio Valley and the interior Mid-Atlantic. In addition, light to moderate sow will be possible over the northern Mid-Atlantic and New England. A cold air mass will trail the aforementioned cold front, bringing temperatures 15 to 30 degrees below March standards over the northern and central Plains.
An area of low pressure will deteriorate over the Four Corners on Wednesday. Snow showers will wind down across the central and southern Rockies. A mixture of rain and snow will linger over eastern Arizona and New Mexico.
