Weather Underground Forecast for Sunday,March 22,2015

Heavy rain showers will persist for the South on Sunday, while another Pacific storm moves onshore from the west. A strong low pressure system over Texas will continue pulling moisture and energy in from the Gulf of Mexico. As this system advances eastward throughout the day, moderate to heavy rainfall from this system will spread across the Gulf Coast. Expect another 1 to 2 inches of rain for parts of eastern Texas and the lower Mississippi River Valley, with heavy rain spreading eastward into the Carolinas and northern Florida throughout the day. Flooding will remain of concern for parts of eastern Texas as well as Louisiana and Mississippi.

In the North, wintry precipitation will diminish for the Northeast as a low pressure system moves northeastward and away from the region. However, flow around this system will maintain cold and windy conditions from New York state through Maine. Behind this activity, a weak trough of low pressure may kick up a few more snow showers across Minnesota and Wisconsin, turning into rain showers as it moves southward into the upper and mid-Mississippi River Valley.

Out West, another strong low pressure system spinning in the Gulf of Alaska will create a cold front that moves into the Pacific Northwest on Sunday. This cold front will produce moderate to heavy precipitation for western Washington and Oregon, with periods of heavy rain also possible for far northern California. Scattered showers from this system will reach into central California and the Sierra Nevada Sunday night into Monday.
