Weather Underground Forecast for Wednesday,March 18,2015

Wet weather will continue across the Southern states on Wednesday, while a few scattered showers will persist across the northern Rockies and northern Plains. A low pressure system that moved northward from Mexico will continue trekking northeastward, producing scattered showers across the southern Plains and the lower Mississippi River Valley. Heaviest precipitation is expected to develop directly along the Gulf states Wednesday night with widespread accumulations ranging around an inch, with some isolated areas likely to see up to 2 inches. Behind this activity across the Southwest, expect a trough of low pressure to bring some moisture in from the west. This will support widespread and light rain showers across the four corners. Expect precipitation to develop Wednesday afternoon and evening from southern California, into southern Nevada, across Arizona and into Utah and Colorado. Rainfall totals will be light for these areas with accumulation less than a half of an inch anticipated. Thunderstorms may accompany this system Wednesday night into Thursday.

Meanwhile in the East, a ridge of high pressure builds into the Eastern states, allowing for dry conditions to persist. However, cold air will accompany this system as it pulls in cooler air from the North. Expect a cooling trend from the Midwest through the Mid-Atlantic states over the next two days.
