Weather Underground Forecast for Friday,March 13,2015

Heavy rain and flooding will persist across the Eastern Valleys on Friday as a low pressure system over the Gulf of Mexico advances northeastward over the Tennessee and Ohio Valleys. As counter-clockwise flow around this system continues pulling moisture northward from the Gulf of Mexico, this system will produce more heavy rainfall for the region. Expect most areas to see between 1 and 2 inches of rain with isolated areas seeing over 2 inches of rain on Friday. Due to significant rainfall across the region for most of the week, flood advisories will remain in effect across the Ohio River Valley and down the mid- and lower Mississippi River Valley. North of this activity, a weak trough of low pressure will dip into the Great Lakes from eastern Canada, triggering a few widespread snow showers for the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Snowfall totals will be light with only a dusting anticipated.

Out West, a trough of low pressure that brought rain and high elevation snow to the Great Basin on Thursday will slowly move eastward and bring precipitation to Colorado and New Mexico. Warm air associated with this system will keep snow levels high, above 7,000 feet.

Meanwhile in the Plains, expect high pressure to maintain a warming trend across the central U.S. with high temperatures ranging from 10 to 20 degrees above normal for the central and northern Plains.
