New England Snow on Winter's Final Weekend (RECAP)

By March, only the avid skier, snowboarder or student looking for more snow days wants more snow, particularly in New England during one of the snowiest seasons on record.
During the final weekend of astronomical winter, a vigorous jet stream dipped over the Northeast and brought deeper, colder air into at least parts of New England as it interacted with a lagging offshore low.
Snow was heavy over parts of northern New England, particularly in northern Maine. In addition, gusty winds as well as a burst of heavy snow dumped 2.9 inches of snow over Boston; this additional snowfall allowed Boston to officially register the greatest snowfall in one season.

Although the storm was short-lived, it did produce the following snow totals throughout the northeastern region:
- 15.8 inches of snow in Presque Isle, Maine
- 10.1 inches of snow in Caribou, Maine
- 7.1 inches of snow in Bangor, Maine
- 2.5 inches of snow in Wakefield, Massachusetts
- 2 inches of snow near Waterbury, Vermont
- 0.5 inches of snow in Concord, New Hampshire
