DC: More Winter Storms to Kick Off March

An end to winter storms targeting Washington, D.C., did not come with the conclusion of February.
March picked up right where February left off on Sunday with another winter storm returning snow and ice to the mid-Atlantic.
The winter storm will be gone by Monday, being replaced with some sunshine. Actual temperatures will rebound above Sunday's high.
The cold will not be stubborn when the next winter storm arrives on Tuesday, preventing yet another snowstorm from unfolding. This storm will instead track farther to the north, allowing milder air to surge in and causing rain to return.

At the storm's onset, enough lingering cold will be in place for a wintry mix to create slick travel. Even as temperatures climb above freezing, motorists should use caution since road temperatures may lag behind and remain slick for an extra hour or two.

The turn to milder and more spring-like weather will not last long with colder air quickly to return later in the week.
If the rain does not depart before the next arctic blast arrives or another band of rain from the southern Plains streams into the cold air, a period of snow or ice may occur.
