A four-alarm fire has been reported at the Toce Brothers Inc.'s tire warehouse in Torrington, Conn., Thursday morning.
According to The Courant, police Lt. Bruce Whiteley reported that nearby homes were evacuated and streets have been closed.
Fire teams reportedly came in from Thomaston, Litchfield and Waterbury to assist in containment efforts.
No injuries have been reported at this time, and the fire is expected to stay contained in the building.
Winds will be light, about 5 to 10 mph, according to AccuWeather.com Senior Meteorologist Dave Dombek. They will not be overly disruptive, but they will blow smoke from the blaze towards the north.
According to the Environmental Protection Agency, "Tire fires, although infrequent, are serious situations that are difficult to extinguish and expensive to clean up."
The EPA reports that oils and chemicals from tire fires can cause water, air and soil pollution.
